I had heard a while ago that putting speakers beside an LCD monitor can harm the monitor over an extended period. Is it true?

I’ve never heard that, mine sit right next to my LCD screen and it seems fine.

my moniter (LCD) has them build right in, no probs.

I’ve never heard that. I suppose it’s possible, LCD’s can take damage in many different forms. Give it enough time, it could hurt it.

the possibility is like a few trillion to one LCDs are made of small crystal particles and when a charge is applied to them they change their polarization. In theory your speakers could put out a ultra high or low frequency that can disrupt or cause the crystals to brake down but finding that is nearly impossible or for the sound to be replicated.

    Absolutely not.

It’s not good to put unshielded speakers next to a CRT. Hell, you don’t want any magnets anywhere near a CRT. But unshielded speakers are pretty hard to come by so you’d have to be using a whole pile of ancient hardware to run into this problem.
