  1. My husband replaced the screen on my iPhone just before Christmas. It was implied that the video instructions come with the kit. They do not. You must go online for the video. Installation was complex; they make it sound easy. My iPhone worked for a month and then mysteriously died. The screen went gray and would not respond to touch. I could still hear everyting just could not see what I was doing. I went to the Apple Store and they replaced the iPhone. Luckily, they did not ask if the phone had been modified. If it had come to light the warranty is null and void…I can only wonder if my phone died because of the new touch screen replacement?

  3. First, I am very disappointed with my order with Digital Media Source. While everything in the kit arrived intact, they did NOT send a magnetized screwdriver. The screws are miniscule and VERY difficult to work with. While I know it didn’t specify in the listing that the tools aren’t magnetic, this SHOULD be a deal breaker for anyone who wants to attempt this.

You will receive no directions so be sure to check YOUTUBE for videos before even considering attempting this.

I’m also very upset that even though I paid for expedited shipping, I highly doubt I received any shipping upgrade. My extra money was wasted as it STILL took 5 days for my package to arrive. $10 should have at least bumped me up to priority mail and not via parcel post as I this package was most likely sent. I’m not happy to have to deal with a broken screen any longer than I have to. Anyone that pays for a shipping upgrade should get one!

I guess this is the risk you take when dealing with an outsourced vendor, and will think twice before dealing with anyone outside of Amazon again. I did want to warn anyone from using this vendor.

I was an electrical technician and a design engineer. Not only have I built printed circuit boards, I’ve designed them. Moreover, I know how to relate technical information to non-technical people.

I’ll keep this review short and sweet. If your iPhone 3gs screen is cracked and you want to fix it yourself I have the solution for you:

    1. Don’t purchase this kit. Purchase the entire new 3gs screen/frame/homebutton combo kit instead. Instead of meticulously taking the iphone apart piece by intricate piece, removing every minuscule piece of broken glass still glued to the frame with a heat gun and tweezers, and then putting it back together with the same painstaking precision, you can simply remove the top half of your iphone and slap the new one on quickly and easily. It will take 1/10 the time and 1/100 the frustration. This is the option I recommend to anyone regardless of skill level, as the ease of it is well worth the extra cash. The link for it is listed below:

    2. OR – If you’re a glutton for punishment, have the patience and time to do the research before even beginning (watch multiple youtube videos on how to replace the screen) and can dedicate a couple hours to doing this task (and have some familiarity with electronic components), then this is a worthwhile solution. The most difficult part is removing all the glass and ensuring you don’t damage the LCD screen. You MUST do the research in watching multiple videos as the instructions included with are non-existent, literally. All they do is include a link to a youtube video which you must manually type into your browser only to find that the link does not exist. Depending on which video you then watch on youtube, you can easily damage your LCD screen in the process following their instructions. In my haste and blind faith in the instructional video I found, that’s what happened to me. The Zeetron video does happen to be the best one, which is not listed under Zeetron but Zeetronic however.

Bottom line – this is a tedious procedure with chance for error on many steps. Detailed instructions, or even a proper link to their video would benefit this product tremendously. Why they haven’t taken this minor effort, I don’t know. Even then, the ease of slapping on an entire new assembly far outweighs this headaches this method will cause.

  5. When I got the kit it was missing the cloth, and screen protectors, and was missing a screw driver and a plastic tool. Got no response from Digital Media Source when I emailed them. Also, 0 instructions came with my kit. Luckily youtube has several videos.

Also the suction cup that came with the kit was either crappy or doesn’t work if you have a cracked screen, which to me defeats the purpose. I cracked my LCD when trying to get the screen out of the phone.
